Election Results - Winchester Students' Union Officer Election 2026/2027

 

Winchester Students' Union Officer Elections have taken place, with nominations from 26th January 2026 until 18th February 2026. Following a period of Candidate Development, campaigning and voting took place from 9th March until 13th March 2026. Results were announced on 13th March 2026, from 9pm.

Total turnout for the Officer Election was 1433, or 22.5% of eligible voters (turnout 2025/2026, 24.6% - UK Student Union Average, 17%).

Congratulations to all candidates who ran in this year’s elections. They have all done a fantastic job running creative campaigns, and the Students' Union would like to congratulate all candidates, regardless of results.

All Officers-elect will formally take office on the 1st July 2026.

 

 


In the election of [President (Student Voice)] the number of votes cast was [1407]There is one vacancy and the quota to be elected was 50% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [704] votes.

 

In the election of [President (Student Voice)] there were [3] candidates;

[Olivia Wrightson] received [654] 1st preference votes

As no candidate reached quota, we remove the candidate with the fewest votes, which is [RON] and transfer their next preference votes.  

In transfer stage one; 

[Ellie Waters] received [7] transfers for a total of [710] votes 

[Olivia Wrightson] received [5] transfers for a total of [659] votes

As quota was met ELLIE WATERS has been duly elected as your President (Student Voice) 2026/2027. 

 

 


 

In the election of [President (Student Engagement)] the number of votes cast was [1270]. There is one vacancy and the quota to be elected was 50% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [635] votes.

In the election of [Part-time Officer] the number of votes cast was [1241]. There are three vacancies and the quota to be elected was 25% of the valid votes cast. Therefore, the quota for this position was [310] votes.

 

In the election of [Part-time Officer] there were [4] candidates;

[Jacob Bavin] received [579] 1st preference votes  

[Patrick Stephens] received [362] 1st preference votes

As noted, Jacob Bavin met quota and has been duly re-elected, and Patrick Stephens also met quota and has been duly elected.  

 

As 1 further seat is available in this election, and as no further candidates reached quota, Jacob & Patrick’s surplus votes, above quota, were transferred to next preferences. 

 

In stage 1 transfers, Theo Hayes met quota.

[RON] received [22] transfers for a total of [83] votes. 

 

As noted, Theo Hayes met quota and has therefore been duly elected. As no further seats remain, we remove the candidate with the fewest votes, which is RON.
